Saman Afaridand , ( born in 1988) is a freelance photographer based in Tehran, Iran.
He started to work as a professional photographer from 2009 and in this journey he decided to experience photo manipulation to express his feelings and tell a story in more details.
Saman is a member of “Iranian Photographer Association” and his artworks were selected at many exhibitions and competitions including Sony World Photography Award and HIPA International Photography Award.
Saman Afaridand has entered the world of photo and photomontage due to his passion of imagination and fantasy. Suspension of objects and humans, and a particular atmosphere is truly evident in the creations of this artist. The atmosphere loaded of fantasy feeling of surrealism that is the unique aspect of his artworks and can create nostalgia for the audience and can be considered as a style.
Saman uses classic methods skillfully to take pictures in suspended mood. For each photo he took two frames, first frame is the environment and the second one is those details that are meant to be suspended. About finding the ideas of his artworks, Saman says: “First I imagine a frame, and then I try to picture it as a story. Generally I took pictures in a way that each one is a piece of a story puzzle and is pictured in a frame”.
